Most, if not all, religions contain the concept of war motivated by religious purposes. Some of our most sacred ancient texts are filled with hostility toward those who are different, and interpreters have had to wrestle with the concepts as they compare these ideas with those of their contemporaries.

Rabbi Aaron Panken, president of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, the Reform Movement’s seminary, will explore the texts and interpretive trajectories of holy war and jihad in Judaism and Islam.

This event has been organized by the
Men’s Club. Charge is $30 for Men’s Club
and Women’s Auxiliary members,
$35 for all other temple members and guests. Brunch will be served.
