For 40 years, Mark Podwal
illustrated Elie Wiesel’s books and
New York Times Op-Ed articles.

He designed the Congressional Gold Medal presented to Wiesel by President Ronald Reagan and logos for Wiesel’s foundation conferences and projects. Podwal traveled the world with Wiesel. He was in Oslo when Wiesel was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, in Auschwitz and Buchenwald for the filming of a documentary on Wiesel, and in Prague where Wiesel spoke at the opening of Podwal’s exhibition at the Jewish Museum.

With slides and anecdotes, often humorous, Podwal recounts his unique relationship with Wiesel, “a messenger to mankind,” in the words of the Nobel Prize Committee. A 374-page monograph, REIMAGINED: 45 Years of Jewish Art by Podwal, with a forward by Wiesel, will be available for purchase and signing. Library Journal called the book “a wonder to behold, especially for lovers of art, books, and Judaica.”

This event has been organized by the
Men’s Club. Charge is $30 for Men’s Club and Women’s Auxiliary members,
$35 for all other temple members and guests. Brunch will be served.

(Paid reservations are requested by November 1.)
