habbat Kodesh is a new Friday evening worship service appropriate for older children (8 years and up), accompanied by their parents. Adults who wish to learn and sing the Hebrew prayers also are encouraged to attend.

Rabbi Howard Goldsmith, Director of Lifelong Learning Saul Kaiserman, Cantorial Intern Joshua Breitzer and Rabbinic Intern Adam Rosenwasser lead this participatory prayer experience in which the Hebrew prayers are made accessible through lively melodies and the structure of the service is made meaningful with thoughtful explanations.

Services generally are held on a monthly basis at 6:30 P.M. in the Beth-El Chapel. Prior to the service, a light meal will be offered to children (if requested) at 5:45 P.M. in the Marvin and Elisabeth Cassell Community House (One East 65th Street). After the service, all participants are invited to join us for a festive Oneg Shabbat with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

For more information, or to request a meal for your child, contact the Office of Lifelong Learning by phone at (212) 744-1400, ext. 226 or e-mail.
