Donate items to NYC’s low-income families…

dURING THE MONTH of April 2012, the Tikkun Olam Committee will be collecting the following items to assist fellow New Yorkers:

Milk — A gallon of fresh milk can cost as much as $5, too expensive for many NYC families. Please help us provide milk for them through our partnership with Yorkville Common Pantry by donating “shelf-stable milk.” Shelf-stable milk requires no refrigeration until the package is opened and is manufactured by such companies as Parmalat, Borden and Organic Valley.

Children’s Books — New and “like new” books are needed for the children at the Clinton Family Inn and for distribution through the Reach Out and Read program at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Children’s Clothing — Gently used children’s clothing (pants, shorts, shirts, sweaters, coats, jackets and shoes) will be donated to Homes for the Homeless. Please, no stained or torn items.

SAT Prep and College Guide Books — Do you have SAT prep materials and college guide books that you no longer need? If they are less than three years old and in good condition (SAT books should not be written in), then please consider donating them. Tikkun Olam will deliver them to high school students in various NYC public schools.

Items may be dropped off at One East 65th Street daily until 7 PM and at the 10 East 66th Street lobby during Religious School and Nursery School hours.

Questions? Contact the Tikkun Olam Committee.
Please use “Spring Drives” as the subject of your email.
