High Holiday eCards

For more than 100 years, Jewish people have been wishing each other L’shanah Tovah, a “Happy New Year,” for Rosh Hashanah by sending each other greeting cards. Temple Emanu-El continues that tradition today...but with a modern twist.

To engage a new generation in the beauty and meaning of Temple Emanu-El’s Main Sanctuary, the Herbert & Eileen Bernard Museum, in partnership with Temple Emanu-El’s Department of Lifelong Learning, has been working with Religious School students to facilitate an artistic exploration of the relationship between sacred space and meaningful spiritual experience. By giving the students a forum and the tools with which to explore this relationship, this program empowers youth to explore their personal connection to prayer, mitzvot and the role of beautiful sacred spaces.

The images displayed here, based on images that can be found in our Main Sanctuary stained-glass windows, were created by students in the Religious School as part of our Sacred Space online exhibition.
