Worship at Emanu-El is a singular experience: inspiring words of wisdom, beautiful music and the warmth of our community in one of the largest and majestic temples in the world. Shabbat services are open to members of our congregation, their guests, and anyone who would like to worship with us in peace.

Attending services at Emanu-El?

  • Enter through our main doors on Fifth Avenue.
  • Accessibility and Inclusion for guests with disabilities
  • All visitors are required to process through our security scanners for all services and events.
  • All bags are subject to search by security personnel. Large bags and cases will be secured in the lobbies during services.
  • To preserve the sanctity of our services, no photographs and kindly silence your mobile phone.

Attending services for the first time?

  • If you’re attending services for the first time—whether you’re Jewish, Jewishly curious or have been invited to a lifecycle event—you are welcome at Temple Emanu-El.
  • You don’t need any previous knowledge of Judaism or Hebrew to worship with us or to attend services.
  • Enjoy yourself and don’t worry about “getting it wrong.” You can follow along in the prayer book or just take it all in. The clergy will provide page numbers, as well as instructions for when to stand or sit, throughout the service.
