Choral D’vrei Torah


Temple Emanu-El’s musical history is grand and glorious, full of
majestic choral masterpieces. Dating from the 17th century through today,
this gorgeous music is sung at every prayer service.




Periodically throughout each year, our cantor and choir perform
Choral Divrei Torah (Words of Torah) as part of our Friday evening or holiday services.

Under His Sovereignty

THROUGH LAZARE SAMINSKY’S LEADERSHIP, Temple Emanu-El’s board of trustees and music committee commissioned many masterworks for our choir and organ, including music by Joseph Achron, Leon Algazi, Herman Berlinski, Gottfried Federlein and Frederick Jacobi. (May 30, 2014)

The Music of Lazare Saminsky

A COMPOSER, CONDUCTOR, WRITER AND LECTURER, Lazare Saminsky was appointed music director of Temple Emanu-El in 1924. Remaining in this post for more than 30 years, he became a powerful force in New York’s Jewish music world. (February 28, 2014)
