DESCRIPTION:To mark the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate (“In Our Age”)—the Second Vatican Council’s groundbreaking document on the Church’s relations with Jews, Muslims, and those of other religions—The Irma Pastrana Borrero Foundation for Humanity’s Peace and Development, in partnership with The Sheen Center and in collaboration with the Archdiocese of New York, Peace Islands Institute New York, and Park Avenue Synagogue, will present an interreligious panel discussion featuring representatives of the Catholic, Muslim, and Jewish traditions, along with musical interludes from Sufi musicians and our own Cantor Mo Glazman.\nNostra Aetate, issued in the fall of 1965, is widely regarded as having ushered in a “Copernican revolution” in how the Catholic Church relates to non-Catholics. Many forms of interreligious collaboration that we take for granted today were unthinkable just decades ago. As the Church commemorates this watershed moment in the life of the Catholic Church, the 60th anniversary invites us to reflect on the past and prepare for the future.\nThe core of the event will be a moderated discussion between three distinguished panelists:\n\nTimothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and tireless champion of interreligious collaboration\nRabbi Elliot Cosgrove, Senior Rabbi of Park Avenue Synagogue and a leading voice for the Conservative Jewish Movement and American Jewry\nDr. Zeki Saritoprak, a professor of Islamic Studies at John Carroll University (notably, a Catholic institution) and a longtime member of the national Muslim-Catholic dialogue\nEmmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton, co-founder of the October 7 Coalition, will serve as the moderator for the discussion\nMusical interludes from Sufi musicians and our own Cantor Mo Glazman.\n\n
