SUMMARY:Temple Emanu-El Celebrates Its 180th Anniversary: Friday Night Worship Services
DESCRIPTION:180 Years. 9,360 Shabbat Evening Services.\nFor 180 years, Congregation Emanu-El has been a cornerstone of Jewish life in New York City and beyond. From humble beginnings in a second-floor loft on the Lower East Side to our magnificent sanctuary on Fifth Avenue, our congregation’s journey reflects the strength and spirit of our community.\nTogether with Temple Emanu-El Clergy, Former Clergy, Trustees, and Former Trustees, we invite you to join us for a special Shabbat evening service marking this extraordinary milestone. As we reflect on 180 years of faith, community, and leadership, we’ll celebrate what it means to be part of this sacred congregation—past, present, and future.\nThe service will feature remarks from distinguished guests and a special musical program:\n\nCardinal Timothy M. Dolan – Archbishop of New York\nRabbi Rick Jacobs – President, Union for Reform Judaism\nPinchas Zukerman – Award-winning Israeli violinist and conductor\nShoshana Bean and Steven Skybell – Broadway performers\nCity, State, and National Leaders\n\nJoin us as we honor the legacy of Congregation Emanu-El and explore its lasting impact on the Jewish community. Children in grades K-6 will have the honor of participating in the opening processional, and attending a concurrent service and program to explore their place in Emanu-El’s story and reflect on how they can carry its legacy forward. LEARN MORE AND REGISTER.\nA celebratory Oneg will follow the service.\nThe service will be livestreamed on Experience Emanu-El, Facebook and YouTube. \n
