For Loryn H., her passion for Temple Emanu-El starts with the temple’s people. Loryn and her husband joined Temple Emanu-El as a newly married couple. Through each stage of their family’s life, the temple has provided community, friendship, and inspiration.
“I have made some of my closest friends through the temple, starting with the Tot Shabbat community and, more recently, through the religious school community” Loryn said.
Loryn and her family cherish participating together in Temple Emanu-El’s Tikkun Olam volunteering events.
“I feel a sense of pride seeing my children participate in Tikkun Olam activities. Temple Emanu-El does a wonderful job of making mitzvot fun and meaningful,” Loryn said.
As Loryn’s children grow up, they are beginning to develop their own paths in Jewish life and Jewish education—paths deeply rooted in their experiences at Temple Emanu-El. This past May, Loryn proudly watched her son lead the congregation as he became a Bar Mitzvah.
As Temple Emanu-El plans for its next 180 years, Loryn hopes that it continues to remain a place that sparks inspiration and hope.
“I hope people can continue to turn to the temple for community and meaning” she said.
