Thank you to everyone who joined us for Temple Emanu-El’s annual Mitzvah Day on Sunday! Together, we made a meaningful impact by assembling 1,500 packages filled with essential items for New Yorkers in need. As we move through this season of giving, we are grateful for the compassion and generosity that define our community. In this spirit of gratitude, there are many ways to continue lending a helping hand through upcoming Tikkun Olam initiatives, including our Emergency Food Drive in response to recent SNAP benefit cuts, our annual Coat Drive as winter approaches, and our Toy Drive to bring holiday joy to children across the city.
Emergency Food Drive
Due to the federal government shutdown, many New Yorkers have lost access to benefits like SNAP (formerly known as food stamps.) These New Yorkers need our help more than ever.
Temple Emanu-El’s Tikkun Olam committee is collecting nonperishable food items through November 30 that will be donated to the anti-hunger group City Harvest and will feed our neighbors in need.
Donations can be made through our Amazon Wishlist; items will be shipped directly to the temple. They can also be dropped off in the 65th or 66th Street lobbies. Please ensure all items are nonperishable and not packaged in glass. Bulk donations are welcome and appreciated..
Donations accepted through Sunday, November 30
Winter Coat Drive
Join us in warming up New York this winter! The Tikkun Olam committee is collecting new and gently worn coats for adults and children. Your donation helps ensure that everyone in our community can face the season in comfort and with dignity.
Please donate clean, wearable coats only (no hats, gloves, or scarves) and drop them off in either the 65th or 66th Street lobbies.

Toy Drive
Help us spread joy this holiday season by donating a gift to our toy drive. We’re proud to partner again with Part of the Solution (POTS), a nonprofit social services agency in the Bronx. POTS provides community members with services ranging from hot showers to fresh groceries. You can donate a gift for children of the POTS community through our Amazon Wish List.
