Confirmation

Confirmation gives teens a meaningful opportunity to explore Jewish identity, deepen their connection to Emanu-El, and affirm their place in the Jewish community.

A group of congregants gathers on the steps inside Temple Emanu-El’s majestic sanctuary, facing a rabbi who stands at the bimah. The space is adorned with elegant floral arrangements, gilded architectural details, and prominent decorative menorahs.

Confirmation at Temple Emanu-El is a meaningful next step in a teen’s Jewish journey. Building on the foundation of b’nei mitzvah and years of Jewish learning, Confirmation invites students to ask deeper questions about faith, identity, responsibility and their place in the Jewish people.

Taught by Rabbi Joshua Davidson, the year-long Confirmation class gives teens the opportunity to study Jewish texts, explore contemporary issues through a Jewish lens and build a closer relationship with their clergy and one another. The class encourages honest conversation, thoughtful reflection and a growing sense of ownership over Jewish life.

The year culminates in a Confirmation service at Shavuot, during which students affirm their connection to Judaism and to the Emanu-El community. It is both a celebration of what they have learned and an invitation to continue growing as Jewish adults.
