About Justin Schein, Director of Death and Taxes

Justin Schein has made character-driven documentaries for more than 30 years. His films include Left on Purpose, winner of the DOC NYC Audience Award, and No Impact Man, which premiered at Sundance. As a cinematographer, he has worked on more than 60 films for HBO, National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, and PBS. His credits include Crip Camp, produced by the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions, which won the 2020 Sundance Audience Award and was nominated for an Academy Award. A Stanford graduate in documentary film, Schein co-founded Shadowbox Films in 1998.
