Tikkun Olam Toy Drive makes a difference for Bronx nonprofit

You never know what impact an act of Tikkun Olam will have for others. This year our Tikkun Olam committee donated over 400 toys to Part of the Solution (POTS), a nonprofit social services agency in the Bronx. POTS then distributed the toys to children and families who utilize their services, which range from fresh groceries to hot showers.

“Today you have filled the heart with joy and gratitude to someone who I know doesn’t know me, but I thank God for your generous heart and I ask Him to take care of you, protect you, and that you continue being that wonderful person as I have you in my mind. I can only tell you thank you, thank you, thank you,” a recipient of POTS’ services said.

“Our members really came through again for our colleagues at POTS,” said Susan Kaufman, chair of Temple Emanu-El’s Tikkun Olam Committee. “We helped POTS purchase an additional 120 toys. I’m proud to be part of community that places tremendous emphasis on helping others in need.”

The Temple Emanu-El Tikkun Olam committee has organized a Toy Drive with POTS for four years. You can make an impact with the Tikkun Olam committee at Mitzvah Day on January 12.
