Holidays

Celebrate the richness of Jewish life through our uplifting holiday services and programs, honoring tradition, fostering community, and marking sacred moments throughout the year.

A rabbi holds a Torah scroll as a joyful man and two boys, each wearing kippot, reach out toward the Torah during a service at Temple Emanu-El. Members of the congregation look on in the background.

Jewish Holidays at Temple Emanu-El

The Jewish calendar is filled with sacred times that bring meaning to our lives. At Temple Emanu-El, we mark each holiday with services and programs that honor tradition while speaking to the present.

From the introspection of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to the joys of Purim and Chanukah, each holiday invites us to come together as a community. Through prayer, learning, and celebration, we connect with our heritage and with one another.

We also observe modern days of commemoration and celebration connected to the State of Israel, including Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom HaAtzmaut. These moments give us space to remember, reflect, and affirm our bonds with our homeland and the Jewish people worldwide.

Whether you attend in person or join us online, holiday worship at Temple Emanu-El is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and take part in the shared rhythm of Jewish life.

A lulav (palm branch, bound with myrtle and willow branches) and a etrog (fragrant citrus) sitting on a table. These are the four species that are held together and shaken as part of the Sukkot holiday.
