Ross M. Levy

Artist in Residence

A joyful man wearing glasses and a blue suit with a green tie plays an acoustic guitar. In the softly blurred background, Hebrew text and a lit menorah are visible, evoking the warmth of Jewish tradition.

Ross joins the Department of Lifelong Learning this year as our Artist in Residence. He attended the University of Hartford and began his career in education at Temple Beth Israel in West Hartford, where he discovered his love for teaching. Ross felt it was his responsibility to give his students the engaging and meaningful experience he felt was lacking in his own education. He aimed to make religious school fun, exciting and relevant. This passion led him to create contemporary Jewish music, which became a significant part of his life. Ross has recorded two studio albums, “What Goes Up” and “Where the Future Lies”, and his work has been featured on four URJ Ruach Series compilation CDs. He has had the privilege of performing at national conferences for the URJ and NFTY, as well as at synagogues and organizations across the country.

Ross was honored to win the Jewish American Idol competition at the CAJE conference in Burlington, Vermont. He is also a featured artist on Jewish Rock Radio and continues to compose new Jewish music while working at Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood, PA. Ross lives in Elkins Park, PA, with his wife, Cantor Amy E. Levy, and their two daughters, Aria and Yakira.
