Mazel tov to Rabbi Sapadin and her husband Dan Sapadin on being awarded the LifeSaver Award from ELEM. The LifeSaver Award is a humanitarian award given yearly to recognize an exceptional individual or individuals who exemplify dedication and commitment to alleviating suffering and inhumane treatment of youth, social inequality, and intolerance.
The Sapadins have supported ELEM for over a decade. Their contributions and dedication to ELEM’s mission are immeasurable. They most recently visited ELEM’s newest program – Orshina in Jerusalem, a first-of-its-kind center, which treats teenage boys and young men who suffered sexual violence in their childhood.
ELEM/Youth in Distress in Israel is the Israel’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to treating and transforming the lives of troubled youth. The organization serves more than 12,500 young people annually face to face and online to deal with myriad of tremendous challenges including domestic violence, substance abuse, neglect, bullying, homelessness and prostitution. With over 90 programs in 42 cities, ELEM provides counseling, mentoring, vocational training and a safe space for Israeli youth to envision a positive future for themselves and become productive members of Israeli society.
