Yom Kippur Family Worship Service
A warm and welcoming service for families with elementary and pre-teen children, followed by our “Missing the Mark” family program.
Right after the Family Yom Kippur Service, families will head downstairs to Blumenthal Hall for a hands-on experience that brings one of the core ideas of the day to life: chet — or “missing the mark.” We’ll have a series of playful, physical stations — basketball hoops, soccer goals, bean bag tosses, etc. — where kids (and grown-ups) will try to “hit the target.” Each station will be paired with a short reflection or question that invites families to think about how we all miss the mark sometimes, and how Yom Kippur helps us reflect, reset, and try again.
All framing and instructions will be given during the Family Service, so when families arrive downstairs, they’ll be free to move through the space at their own pace. Each station will be staffed with a facilitator who’s there to guide conversation, keep things flowing, and offer support as needed.
Tickets are required to attend all Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services at Temple Emanu-El. Tickets are purchased through Membership Dues. Tickets for individual services and/or holidays are not available for purchase.
