About our Speakers
Rabbi Joshua M. Davidson

Rabbi Joshua M. Davidson began his tenure as Temple Emanu-El’s senior rabbi in 2013. A graduate of Princeton University and ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion – from which he also received Master’s and honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees –Rabbi Davidson is a member of the Hebrew Union College Board of Governors, HUC’s President’s Rabbinic Council, the Clergy Advisory Board of Interfaith Impact of New York State, and the Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council. His articles have been published by The Jewish Week, The Forward, Commentary Magazine, The New York Times, The New York Daily News, The New York Post, CNN, and many others; and he is a contributing writer in Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman’s Prayers of Awe series.
Dr. Seyma Aslan

Dr. Seyma Aslan leads a team of scientists for innovation in product formulation at L’Oréal Research & Innovation Laboratories and is responsible for a Global Innovation Platform which focuses on North America, South America & Africa Zone. She received her PhD, Masters of Science, Masters of Philosophy, and Postdoctoral Training from Yale University and a bachelor of science degree from Drexel University in Chemical Engineering. She had worked at large chemical companies including DuPont, Sunoco, and Saint-Gobain. She teaches Innovation courses in Engineering School at Yale University. In addition to her scholarly activities and leadership, she works tirelessly in many non-profit organizations including “Well Spring Educational Foundation”, “Society of Women Engineers” and was the recipient of “Community Service Award” from both Yale Univ. and Harvard Univ. for her work in advancement of women in education. She serves on the board of trustees at YaleWomen, Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, North East Islamic Community Center, and Peace Islands Institute NY. She lives in New Jersey, USA with her husband and daughter.
