Sunday, September 19
Meet at temple at 8:45 AM | Return around 2:00 PM.

Free. Advanced Reservations required.
Space is limited. This event is open to temple members only.

All adults must show proof of vaccination, children who are taking the bus require a negative PCR Covid test and all must wear a mask throughout the experience.

The last days of summer, the first days of 5782 and the eve of our holiday of rejoicing: What better time for a jaunt into the countryside to pick apples for this special season, to tour a farm where bees produce luscious dipping honey, to learn about Sukkot and to return home with produce? Apples will be donated to Bowery Misson and Dorot HPP.

The Temple Emanu-El Tikkun Olam Committee and the Streicker Center have arranged a special outing for our temple members to do just that.

After a quick blessing in the Temple Sukkah, a luxury bus will take us to the Orchards of Concklin, where the descendants of a single family have been growing apples for more than ten generations. We’ll be their exclusive guests as we fill our bushels with just-ripened MacIntosh and Cortland apples. Then we’ll take a break from our labors over a picnic lunch topped off with freshly-pressed cider, cider donuts and warm apple turnovers fresh from the oven.

Next, we’ll take a short drive to Zev Oster’s bee farm in Monsey, where we’ll don protective gear so we can meet the bees and hear all about honey, its production and its Jewish significance.
