Susannah Heschel
Professor and Chair of Jewish Studies, Dartmouth College
Susannah Heschel is the Eli M. Black Distinguished Professor and Chair of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College and currently serves as the Gerard Weinstock Visiting Professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard University. Her work focuses on modern Jewish thought, especially in Germany, and the history of antisemitism.
She is the author of several influential books, including The Aryan Jesus: Christian Theologians and the Bible in Nazi Germany, and has edited numerous volumes on Jewish thought, history, and interreligious studies. A Guggenheim Fellow, she has received major grants from the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation, and the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, along with fellowships from leading research institutes in the United States and Europe.
Rabbi Tamar Manasseh
Founder, Mothers and Men Against Senseless Killings (MASK)
Rabbi Tamar Manasseh is an internationally recognized anti-violence activist and founder of MASK (Mothers and Men Against Senseless Killings), a grassroots organization on Chicago’s South Side. Since 2015, she has led a community-based model of violence prevention rooted in presence, nourishment, and trust, creating safe spaces and consistent support for children and families.
Under her leadership, MASK serves thousands each year and has launched initiatives such as the Tiny Kitchen Project, empowering residents to care for their own neighborhoods. Ordained by the International Israelite Board of Rabbis, she is widely recognized for building bridges across communities and advancing community-led approaches to public safety. She has received numerous honors, including being named Chicagoan of the Year.
