Women of Emanu-El Mah Jongg Class

Mah Jongg is back for Fall 2026!

Experienced Mah Jongg instructor Sharon Steinberg will be our teacher.

Sharon will teach an introduction to the game of Mah Jongg, a tile game like rummy, played by four people around a table. She will give a series of four lessons.

Players will learn to identify tiles, how to set up the tiles they are dealt, and how to figure out what type of hand they are most likely to win.

By the end of the second session, players will be able to play the game with teacher supervision. Players will also learn beginning game strategies.

By the end of the four lessons, players will be able to play independently.

Classes kick off on Tuesday, September 8th. The class time is from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The 4-week session dates are: September 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. 

Cost: $300.00 for 4-week sessions, plus a one-time $15 fee for the

National Mah Jongg League card required for this style of play.

Space is limited to 8 per session.

Class size: 8 players based on two tables of four.

Registration: Advance registration is required.

Open to all Temple Emanu-El members and their spouses, partners, or Mah-Jongg-playing friends. Non-temple members may attend if sponsored by a Temple Emanu-El member.
