Women of Emanu-El: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart–Treasures from the Mozarteum Foundation of Salzburg

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Treasures from the Mozarteum Foundation of Salzburg at The Morgan Library and Museum

In an unprecedented collaboration, the Mozarteum Foundation of Salzburg and the Morgan Library & Museum have partnered to tell the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life and career.

Objects from the Salzburg collections will cross the Atlantic for the first time, including Mozart’s own clavichord and violin, as well as famous portraits, letters, and personal objects of Mozart and his family.

The exhibition highlights two key periods in Mozart’s life: his youth with his father, Leopold, and sister Nannerl in Salzburg, and his adult years with his wife, Constanze, in Vienna. After Mozart’s death in 1791, Nannerl and Constanze returned to Salzburg, where they, along with the composer’s two sons, worked to preserve and build his legacy. Their collection laid the groundwork for the modern Mozarteum.

There will be only 1 private guided tour, and space will be strictly limited to the first 20 registered guests. Advance registration is required.
