Update: Yarden Roman-Gat is Free

We are overjoyed to share the heartwarming news that Yarden Roman-Gat, who was taken hostage in Gaza, has been safely released and reunited with her loved ones. Her brother, Gili Roman, spoke at our services on November 3rd, touching our hearts with the story of his sister’s bravery and her abduction by Hamas. Gili wanted to share the news with us and extend his family’s gratitude for inviting him to speak at Temple Emanu-El.

Yarden is in good health and gradually sharing the harrowing experience of her time in captivity. For several weeks, she was unaware of the fate of her three-year-old daughter Geffen and her husband Alon. It was only after a few weeks that she learned Geffen and Alon were alive, which provided her with strength and hope.

Yarden is now back in the warm embrace of her loved ones. We are overjoyed and thankful for Yarden’s return, and we hold her and her family in our hearts, wishing them strength as they begin the journey of healing together. Her release is a beacon of hope for all who are waiting for their loved ones to be returned to Israel.

One-hundred forty-five people, including Yarden’s sister-in-law Carmel, are still being held captive by Hamas in Gaza. We will continue to pray for the hostages, raise their names and demand their release.
